It's a pretty cool idea, But if I were a taxi driver I sure as hell wouldn't want to be carting around drunk people and such in a expensive car.

Expensive cars in taxi use is pretty much the norm here. Most taxis are new E-class Mercedes-Benzes and Volvo V70/XC70's.

Some pretty ritzy areas in Northern Virginia, and also a lot of foreign visitors that may be more accustomed to having nicer cabs at home, so all in all, probably a decent business case.

Not only that, but I imagine they might be quite inexpensive to keep running in the long run. I'd be curious to know what the average taxi driver covers for distance in a half a day. (E.g.: eat lunch while doing a supercharge).

I guess. The thing is, the majority of people who are used to having nicer cabs hire black cars instead of taxis.

Roughly 170 teslas serves schipol airport, amsterdam. One in sweden and about 20 in Norway. Stockholm taxi s under way as well. It is a Major trend. The savings are enormous for the taxi companies.

How many miles do those car drive annually about?
In the U.S. cars have to take anywhere from 50-100,000 miles in around a 10 year service life. I just would be unsure if a Tesla could do that.
